As always Dubcnn lets you preview a cut before you decide. Support the westcoast hiphop! Here is the full explanation he posted in our dubcc message boards: " What up famm, So here's the deal - basically my rap name "Extra Large" is an infringement on a trademark held by DJ Extra Large, some cat that maybe a few of yall might have heard of, if you have you probably know he's worked with a few dudes but whatever.

Last week I received a cease-and-decist letter from his lawyer that's right his lawyer!!! My first thought was, this is hip hop and in hip hop, whoever blows first with the name should be the one who can lay claim to it, running to a lawyer is like snitching to the police as far as something like this is concerned.

I'm mainly pissed because he sent me a vague and threatening e-mail telling me "the name needs to change or there's gonna be problems", to which I responded cool and asked why we couldnt both have the name, he's DJ Extra Large I'm just Extra Large.

I never got a response, not until his lawyer stepped in, what a bitch move. Not only that but his lawyer tried to say I couldn't shorten it to just "XL" which I know is bullshit because there's a Chino XL out there so why not sue him? Of course yall can feel free to call me XL or Extra Large if yall want just like people still said Biggie Smalls even after he had to change it to B.

I just dont get it, we supposed to be bringing the West back and unifying is obviously the only way we can do that, but how when everytime you try to do something positive like putting out dope music somebody gotta turn around and try to bring you down?

Fuck that prepare for my response song coming this week "Call Johnnie Cochran" and also the remix by Big Saccs cuz the big homie Saccs aint feeling this whole situation neither.

Rud Discuss This Topic. Ras Kass, who has been signed to Priority since , is demanding that he be released from his recording contract based on specific acts of breach by Priority Records, Capitol Records and EMI and intentional and malicious misrepresentations made by Priority Records, as well as Priority Records executives Wendy Goldstein and Andrew Shack.

In the past, Ras Kass has formally and informally sought release from the label based on specific provisions in his contract, which allow him to do so; still Priority Records has refused to release him. Courtney Love, , Metallica, Prince and others have filed similar civil complaints challenging record labels over contract terms.

Courtney Love had particularly similar issues when Universal failed to promote her album and held her to her contract for more than 7 years. In , Ras Kass signed onto Priority with goals of using his craft to teach people about religion, politics and his art. To date Ras Kass has had only two albums officially released. His second album, Rasassination received similar reviews. The list was presented to the label in , but was never taken seriously. His skill and his talent come from a genuine place.

The West Coast is waiting to hear something that explosive. Dave Weiner. The artist has been the underdog in this industry for far too long and it is about time that an artist held their label accountable for damages in a court of law. I stand in solidarity with Ras Kass and support his efforts to regain his freedom from this Goliath!

Over a course of 9 years, Priority has only distributed two of four Ras Kass albums and failed to promote either properly, with promises of much more. I am prepared to do what it takes in order to be released from this ugly situation. A decade-plus in the making, the group's highly anticipated first full length album release The Hard Way is set to rock the hip-hop world with the unprecedented combination of these three talented hip-hop stars.

Named after the area code of Long Beach, CA, the city in which all members of the group grew up, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G originally formed as teenagers in Los Angeles before breaking off to have renowned and record breaking solo careers. Upon splintering in the late 80's, they made a pact that, if they all succeeded as solo artists, they would return to their roots and pick up where they left off. After a couple of stints attempting a reunion, most notably on the track "Ain't No Fun" on Snoop Dogg's critically-acclaimed album Doggystyle, it was not until the three combined forces again for a song off Warren G's release Return to the Regulator, that they were able to make 's reunion official.

Before completing work on The Hard Way, 's bootleg track, entitled "So Fly," exploded on to airwaves all over their hometown of Los Angeles. The track featured the instrumentation of Monica's "So Gone" and became the 1 song on Power in Los Angeles, in addition to receiving heavy rotation on The Beat.

The tremendous success of the song highlighted the excitement surrounding this trio's return, dominating the West Coast's top urban radio stations. As the buzz on this highly anticipated record and reunion continues to build, the album's first official single, "Groupy Luv" is starting to bubble up on radio station playlists nationwide. Much love to the homie Obi Black for the information. Apparently, it's gonna be on some Shock Of The Hour type of shit!!! MC Ren left a message on his site about the project, here it is: "due to a lack of real music in the game and fake ass niggas wit they played out throw backs and wack ass lyrics,me and the black panther of rap are gettin together to drop a classic mc ren album. A lot has went on in the past five years and just when people thought that he and Above The Law were finished, they creep back and re-invent themselves and the game.

This path has taken Hutch back to his gritty and grimy foundation as a premier emcee and producer. He had pulled back from his production duties for the past few years, by inviting new up-and-coming producers into the fold.

Hutch always felt a need to help those burgeoning talent get immediate exposure. In fact the last two WestWorld releases featured affiliated producers who were inspired and hung around the group long enough to get bit by the G-Funk bug. In , Cold um felt that it was time that he got behind the boards again and give the fans those patented gangsta-funk beats behind his well-known thugged out delivery.

The formula for tackling a noted classic from a classic movie from the blaxploitation era of African American cinema? Basically, "Give Me Your Love" is about a brother on the daily grind doing what he got to do, but knowing whatever happens, his woman got his back regardless of the outcome. The overall subject matter may be a bit racy for the commercial radio format, but for those who are familiar with um and ATL know they always offer a positive and possible solution within the content of their music.

As an entrepreneur, Hutch has always envisioned himself as being the sole controller of his destiny even before he decides to retire.

He would like to see his company, WestWorld Entertainment Group, become the independent powerhouse that rivals the legendary Ruthless and Death Row Records, both of whom he is very familiar with. Hutch is very comfortable with his current distribution deal, which he has a history with from the days Above The Law were recording for Tommy Boy Records. The first single is entitled "Lyrical Murda" WestWorld Records has already hit various markets around the country with their own mixtape hosted by none other than Big Hutch himself.

I've had a little trouble with logging in, but it's all solved now.

At the start of the month, They set up the concert at El Foro in Tijuana, a perfect spot for a concert. Line was around the corner, no bullshit. It was promoted well. First artist up was Young Sicc. Since he opened the show, the crowd wasn't really into it yet. It took Slow Pain and the Old Town boys to really get it jumpin'. I was shocked at how much crowd participation that had. Shadow came out next. He had some good crowd control. Psycho Realm and Street Platoon we next. They killed it. Just as Sick Symphonies usually does.

Lil-One came out. He brought his brother along with his rhyme partner, who's names I forgot , Shysti and the beautiful and talented Michelle Ambriz with him. Look out for Riverbottom ya'll. Next group was Aztec Tribe.

I'm not very familiar with them. Personally, I wasn't feeling their set. But, to their credit, Sick Symphonies and Lil One wore the crowd the fuck out. Two very heated sets to follow is not easy. Closing the show was Delinquent Habits. They're just not the same without Kemo. It's like watching Bone Thugs without Bizzy, N.

But, again, they couldn't match what Sick Symphonies and Lil One did before them. Overall, it was a great show. First of it's kind. I can only see it growing into something bigger in the next coming years.

Props to Next show I want to talk about is the F. The album is out, as of May 11th. I gotta give it up to F. They put together a very good show. Their opening act was L. He tore it up, as usual. A lot of energy in his set.

He closed his set by bringing out the Shape Shifters crew. That was a tight way to close it. The crowd was very hype. Eric Cubichi came out and spoke. This duo came out and performed a few tracks.

I didn't catch their name, they were coo though. Finally, F. E Immigrants came out. The song that most stick out was "C. Dutch wrote the record so that the beginning letters of the words spelled out the word Child.

It was very creative. The song had a lot of meaning, it's something ya'll show check for. They had so much energy. So, if you ever get a chance to see them live, do so. Pick up their self titled album, it's out now. Props to all the artists that performed at any of these shows. If I left you out, I'm sorry.

The file is mb big so if you're on a slow connection, beware! I'm downloading it as we speak, I hope it's hot! So everybody make sure to head over to LAHipHop. This problem should not be occuring again! I now want to take a moment to make a short statement regarding dubcnn and the Westcoast Unified mixtape.

That is, what most WC Rappers have stood for in the past decade. But, of course, during the whole time, there has been a Hip Hop movement on the West, with a totally different approach of things, but often got overlooked, labeled as back pack rappers, and not given a chance in the mainstream.

The rapper I'm going to present to you goes further than aiming guns at peoples chest, banging a set and representing his coast. He's a true MC.

Mykestro is the younger brother of beat-making legend Battlecat. He's coming out of South Central, CA, and is eager to show the world what he's capable of. We had the chance to catch up with both Mykestro and Battlecat to talk about the man's debut solo album " Just Due " on which he's currently putting the finishing touches on. When asked about his younger brother, Battlecat started boasting " He's my best kept secret man, matter of fact he's the best kept secret in Cali!

He truly has a voice of music, he's a real musician! He pointed out that Hip Hop has been in a drought for a good while now: " We ain't had nobody fresh in the last years!

We need something like this. He has his head on straight, he's not only a musician, but also a business man. He's my official business partner on my new label that I'm putting together, he's my new accountant.

He's business minded and a musical craft. That's something we need over here! When asked how he would describe himself as a artist, he said " I would say I'm absolutely universal.

I have alot of versitality, and definitely not what you would expect out of L. I come from a musical background, MC and production wise. I'm very consistent as far as lyrics go, I'm a MC! He's been really putting in work in the studio working, doing shows, he wants to do him, not ride on somebody elses coattail. He wanna prove the world what he can bring behind the mic ", Battlecat said. When asked about his influences growing up Mykesto shouts without hesitation that " Kurupt was my hero!

That's my hero right there! That's who I looked up to when coming up, I always felt like he was a different type of MC, so that was my main influence from the gate.

Now let's get into his debut solo album " Just Due " which he's dropping. He's shooting for a 4th Quarter release if everything goes well. As for the label situation, " If the paperwork is right, I would go with a major!

But if it's tons of faulty paperwork, I'm definitely gonna keep it independent ". He's been recording for the album since the beginning of the year, and in contrary to most of the shit coming out nowadays, this is actually gonna look like a Solo album! The production credits are very impressive too. Of course, he has Battlecat on there. I didn't want the claps and all that. He came with something different this time around, except on one, where he came with all his funk and flavor, because I can't forget where I'm from and where I grew up!

We're gonna be providing you with material from his mixtape, aswell as album previews in near future, stay tuned for more news in Mykestro, because this cat is on the come up and will hopefully be a force on the West in near future! He talked to us about how people think he doesn't show up at shows while the reason being he isn't told where to be, He gave us the exclusive real deal about Ruthless records, future plans, he told us he quit drinking and cut down on smoking weed, how he produced most of the songs on "creepin on ah comeup", Eazy E, his new Movie and much more stuff!

Hiphop heads last heard from Hutch back in when he released his first solo debut album, Executive Decisions, on his independent label, West World Records. With this album, Hutch brings melody back, with his time-honored brand of West Coast hiphop. Suge Knight had even tried to enlist the production services of Hutch, but the two could not see eye to eye on a myriad of things, so chose to leave the situation. Live From The Ghetto is not merely an album title, but it is the state of mind, as well as environment, which Hutch has always shared in, and it permeates through this highly-anticipated album.

He wrote, produced and sang. I experienced the Mack, Motown, all of that, because of the work my dad and my uncle did for Motown. I was brought up on that sort of player, smoothed-out music. So this is paying homage. When you listen to it, it sounds like I was in the studio with Curtis Mayfield. It sounds real natural. Hutch is known as one of the original creators of G-Funk. Hutch remains understated, modest and extremely humble, despite his major role in the creation of G-Funk. The music was new, hiphop, if you were around back then, you know one thingjust everything was kind of new.

It was more so an experimental type of thing. When I was doing G-Funk, which was that all we were doing is adding a funky, new, melodic vibe to hiphop, because at the time, it was more metal sounding, you know, like NWA had this more metal sounding, hard-edged, cut throat feel to it.

But Above The Law was more funky, funky but real smoothed-out. At the time, Warren G slept on my floor, in my apartment. What do you call your shit? I was the first to take Snoop and Warren under my wing. You are ghetto gold, ghetto platinum. There are only a few people who are respected that level, on a ghetto level, that can give you certified ghetto shit.

We bring certified ghetto platinum. No matter how many records we sell, we are still certified ghetto platinum. You may not remember the words to the song, but you always know the melody. I wanted to sing the melodies myself, rather than hire someone else, and just be a rapper. I wanted to be a full-fledged artist, a true musician, and show that side of me.

Bad is currently shopping for a deal for his new album and his imprint Double Dolla Sign Records. It's some smashing shit, I guarantee you! His album " Executive Decisionz " was repeatedly pushed back by the lable, to the point where it looked like it was never coming out. Lot's of people were smoking, but security were trying to confiscate weed and kick out people. Nonetheless, people still smoked. The highlight of their show was when DJ Rhettmatic had his time to shine.

He showed the crowd the skills he and his Beat Junkies crew are known for on the turntables. He then hopped on the beat machine and tore it up there, too. They had a good set. Look out for Pangaea, it's still in stores. LMNO just released a solo album as well.

Peep those out. Next up was Cypress Hill. Already the crowd was hype. A little scuffle broke out right behind me, I was very close to the front, and somehow Pepper spray was sprayed into the air.

The mist hit me in the face, as well as any and everyone in the vicinity. A lot of people cleared out, including me. I inhaled some of that shit and my eyes were killing me. I missed the rest of the show, which went on for about 30 minutes after. I'm unsure if they closed to show down or if Cypress just finished their set.

Either way, up until that little disaster, the show was hot. If you do, then don't join in. People who take that shit to the heart is why things like that happen. The time has come!

Click Here to order and Listen to snippets from his new album "Mr Melodocious!

Jome Discuss This Topic. With his flawless perpetual style and untouchable verbal heat on the mic and stage, Yukmouth AKA Godzilla prepares to release his latest project United Ghettos of America Vol. Yukmouth has a bigger body of work than Frank Sinatra and is one of the heaviest international rap sensations out there. Gaining ultimate exposure across the world throughout America, Europe, etc, Yukmouth portrays himself as the one of a kind real life thugged out west coast rapper.

When it comes down to it, he has seen and done it all. Who started out in the ghettos of Oakland, California selling drugs, getting locked up, and writing his first song The Ice Cream Man in jail, ended up touring with Puff Daddy, Biggie, Mary J and some of the biggest names in hip hop history.

During the period when recording Lunitk Muzik he landed into the hands of J. In Yukmouth dropped Godzilla, his third album with Rap a Lot Records which is said to be his best album ever.

What makes him flawless and one of the most respected rappers in game is the fact he stays loyal to the real and original figures in the industry and stays connected with the underground. He is mainstream but not commercial. I the DVD and soundtrack which was one of his best works as well. Though the critically acclaimed United Ghettos of America Vol. The project will come in a DVD plus Soundtrack together in one pack unlike the first which the two was sold separately.

The DVD will include exclusive footage, lots of females and XXX Eye Candy Scenes, live events, performances, interviews and basically footage of how celebrities do it big. Diddy, and much more. United Ghettos of America Vol.
